Goat Milk Soap from Iris and Gardenia

Where it all starts, each morning and evening Iris and Gardenia give a gallon of the freshest, creamiest, most wholesome milk. And our soaps are made with 100% milk straight from the milk pail. Milk has long been used to help skin feel softer, feel more supple and look smoother. Many say that the alpha hydroxy acids are what does this but from Cleopatra to the present day, milk is considered wonderful for skin care. We can't make any scientific claims but we do find ourselves that our skin is nicer using our own soaps in spite the rigours of farm work! Others come back time and again to buy because skin irritations are a thing of the past once they started using our all natural, vegetarian milk soaps. Many people, including ourselves, also use our soaps in place of shampoos because of concerns regarding additives; then they find out how wonderful their hair can feel without expensive and multiple products.

Our soap

Being vegetarian for the last 30 years of course means that we look to all vegetable oils to make our wholesome soaps. We use coconut oil for luxurious lather, olive oil for it's nutrients and skin softening aspects, sunflower and castor oils also increase the moisturizing aspects. And of course since these soaps are made by hand right here on our homestead all the natural glycerin that is removed from commercially made soaps is still in there to increase moisturizing.

To some soaps we add ground oatmeal and honey, to others essential oils like Bulgarian Lavender or Tea Tree; some are fragranced and some not. We even make a great Tar Soap for those suffering from skin rashes, psoriasis, excema and my personal favourite – Poison Ivy, with 18% pure pine tar it really works for me! If you have a special want, need or interest since we make soap in very small batches we can make up goat milk soap just for you or your special event.

Below is a photos of some of our felted bars of soap, too.

Felted Soap

Each bar is cured for several weeks and weighs 3+ oz, a comfortable size to hold in your hand but lasts in the shower. But please keep your handmade soaps in a draining dish to get the longest use. Your soap will also be wrapped in a simple cloth band which is pretty enough for gift giving but minimal packaging that can be composted. Soap balls are packaged in corn based wrap that is also compost-able. Our naturally made soaps are good for you and the environment.
